Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park

Take the family and wander around the beautiful grounds, gardens, and greenhouses of this Gold Coast estate. Some Friday evenings throughout the summer, you can enjoy “Music in the Garden” with live jazz, swing, and blues music.


Nothing completes a summer like a family trip to Adventureland right here in Farmingdale. This amusement park has been providing summer fun since 1962. Pay for individual ride tickets or buy a ride bracelet.

Norman J. Levy Park and Preserve

Known informally as Merrick Mountain, this wildlife sanctuary used to be a landfill. Now, it features three miles of trails, a 500-foot fishing pier, exercise stations, a functioning windmill, and beautiful views of Jones Beach. You might even catch a glimpse of the New York City skyline on a clear day.

Bonanza’s Italian Ice

Head to Bayville and enjoy the waterfront breezes while eating a delicious, refreshing Bonanza’s Italian Ice. The small corner shack is home to a family tradition that has served the area since the early 1900s.
