Fall Maintenance Tips: Keeping Your Car Running Well

Fall is on its way, which means it’s the perfect time to do some car maintenance. The change of seasons is the ideal time of year to change the oil, check tires, change filters, and more. You can choose to do it yourself, or you can make things easy by bringing it to our service team at Sarant Cadillac.

According to Bankrate, you should always try and change your oil in the fall. Generally, it’s wise to get new oil every 3,000 miles. Considering that the average driver will go 12,000 miles per year, that means that every change of season should be about the time for regular maintenance. Doing this will not only improve performance, but it can also extend the life of your car.

Change the wipers. With snow and ice on the way, you don’t want to wait until it is too late to get new wipers. You should also consider topping off the fluids, including washer/de-icer. This will prepare you for when the snow really starts to come down.

The fall usually brings colder temperatures, which means you should check tire pressure. For every 10-degree dip in temperature, you lose 1 psi in your tires. If you don’t keep up with temperature changes, you could be driving on underinflated tires.

Finally, change your air filter. The air quality often goes down in the fall months, so be sure to check your filter. If it is relatively new, it’s still a good idea to blow it out with compressed air. These are just some of the many fall maintenance tips to keep in mind.
